CYO Sports
CYO Sports is a parish based program open to all children and adolescents, regardless of race, religion, national origin, family or economic status. It serves over 13, 000 children and adolescents annually in 60 athletic associations with the help of over 5000 adult volunteers.
 Mission
To offer all youth, sports and recreation programs emphasizing friendly competition through good sportsmanship "modeled" by adult participants. To invite all participants, Catholic and otherwise, youth and adults, to share in the life of their church and faith community.

****IMPORTANT MEMO ON COACHES BACKGROUND CHECKS****

The policy for 2010-2011 CYO Sports seasons is that a person seeking to be certified as a coach must have filled out a background check request form AND turned it in to the Pastoral Center before the date to be trained.
If the CYO Board is allowed to turn in forms to the Pastoral Center, you are responsible to your coaches to be sure that forms are received here on time.
If the Pastor has another person designated to turn in background checks, you are responsible for telling that person the urgency of getting the forms turned in.
If your pastor requires that all forms be turned in at one time, you must be sure that you can get your coaches trained after that date: for example, if your Pastor wants all background check requests for the Fall turned in to the Pastoral Center at the end of August, you will have NO opportunity to certify coaches for the Fall sports season.
Clearly, you need to communicate with anyone who you rely on to get your coaches their background checks completed. If your Pastor has any questions or concerns, please have him call Barbara Convertino at 734-1625.
Please note that we also need each coach’s Date of Birth on the registration form for coach training class. This will allow the Human Resources Office to correctly identify the coach if there more than one person with the same name at the parish, or if that person might have been with another parish before yours. A correct training registration form is attached at the bottom of this section + MORE INFORMATION
****IMPORTANT REMINDER-ZONE/PARISH OFFICER FORMS ARE DUE FRIDAY JULY 30TH. PLEASE MAKE SURE PASTOR SIGNATURE AND SEAL ARE ON THE FORM BEFORE YOU TURN IT INTO THE CYO OFFICE.
**Just a couple of reminders to all CYO leaders. When purchasing blank forms for registration the fee is still $4.00 per form. The CYO patches are now $1.00. The new handbooks will be available August 18th. The handbooks will now be $2.00. Please make all checks for CYO purchases payable to CYO Athletics.

- All Zones and Parishes are governed by the CYO Policies and procedures.
- All Coaches are to have a background check and be certified through our program in order to participate. All Coaches Training registration goes through the parish.
