Hope for the Future and the Catholic Schools Office are participating the Battle of Flowers parade on Friday, April 22. Ā This is the third year the organizations have participated with a float in the parade and this year’s selected theme is Spanish Missions. Ā The Battle of Flowers parade was created to honor those who fell during the Battle of the Alamo and recognize the soldiers who fought to secure Texas’ Independence at the Battle of San Jacinto. The original parade included horse drawn carriages covered in flowers, mainly roses. Today the parade is seen by over 350,000 people in downtown San Antonio and is broadcast LIVE on television. Hope for the Future and Catholic Schools participate to join in on the celebration of our rich San Antonio history and culture, but to increase awareness about Catholic school education in San Antonio and tuition assistance options available.
