Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak appointed chancellor, vicar general

Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak has been appointed by Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS, as chancellor of the archdiocese, effective July 1, 2021.

Sister Jane Ann Slater, current chancellor, will be retiring for that position on June 30.

“We are so blessed that Providence anticipated my retirement and sent us Bishop Janak!” stated Sister Slater. “It is so true that Providence does provide and we are very grateful!”

Effective April 28, in addition to his appointment as chancellor, Archbishop Gustavo also appointed Bishop Janak as episcopal vicar for Vocations and Priestly Formation.

In addition, he was appointed as one of the archdiocesan vicar generals as well. The other vicar generals are Auxiliary Bishop Michael Boulette and Father Larry Christian.
