Guadalupe Community Center feeds the community for Thanksgiving

Catholic Charities, with the help of friends at The RK Group, RK Cares, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, once again distributed over 600 Thanksgiving meals with frozen turkeys or hams and all of the sides on November 22 at Guadalupe Community Center.

On November 20, young adults from around the city gathered at Guadalupe Community Center as part of World Youth Day 2021 to prepare and package Thanksgiving meals for distribution. Individuals and families from Catholic Charities’ Adopt-A-Senior, St. Stephen’s CARE Center, Guadalupe Community Center, and the After School Program were invited to receive a turkey box to celebrate Thanksgiving. Assigned volunteers distributed turkey boxes to seniors enrolled in Adopt-A-Senior in the comfort and safety of their homes. Individuals and families received their Thanksgiving meals curbside along West Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard with Catholic Charities staff and RK Cares and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints volunteers working together to offer packages to the community with love and care.

Catholic Charities’ President/CEO J. Antonio Fernández said, “Catholic Charities is thankful we can once again offer this Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors in need. As always, it is such a blessing to work alongside our friends to serve together to spread joy during the season.”
