Official archdiocesan assignments for 2022

The following is a list of changes in assignments for priests in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, effective July 1, 2022, unless otherwise noted.

Impending retirement

  • Msgr. James Janish as administrator pro tem of St. Leo the Great Church in San Antonio, with assignment concluding June 30. Msgr. Janish will then resume retirement.
  • Father Norbert Herman as pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Kenedy, with assignment concluding on Dec. 31, 2022. Father Herman will then return to Poland.

Medical leave

  • Father Frank Garcia, on medical leave as parochial vicar from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Selma until Dec. 31, 2022. During this period he will live in residence at St. Francis of Assisi Church in San Antonio.

Retirement

  • Father Frank Macias as pastor of St. Leo the Great Church in San Antonio.
  • Father José Ramon Perez as pastor of St. Lawrence, the Martyr Church in San Antonio.
  • Msgr. Kevin Ryan as pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in San Antonio.

Assignment outside archdiocese

  • Father Alejandro del Bosque from Church of the Holy Spirit in San Antonio to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

  • Father Dennis Aréchiga as pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in San Antonio.
  • Father Eric Ritter as pastor of St. Matthew Church in San Antonio.
  • Father Arnold Ibarra as pastor of St. Lawrence, the Martyr Church in San Antonio.
  • Father José Puente as pastor of St. Benedict Church in San Antonio.
  • Father Pius Ezeigbo as pastor of St. Mary Church in Stockdale and St. Ann Church in Kosciuszko.
