Priests hear workshops, presentations from Pastoral Center entities

About two dozen new pastors, administrators, and parochial vicars gathered for two days recently at the Sacred Heart Church Civic Center for a workshop and presentations from archdiocesan departments and agencies.

The August 16 and 17 event included talks on human resources; parish financial operations; property/liability; worker’s compensation insurance; and Code of Conduct; the Presbyteral Council; Priests Personnel Board; pastors/administrators and the role of dean; chancellor’s role; Archives; ongoing formation of clergy and the five years ordained group; vocations and seminarians and the discernment house; parish pastoral councils; Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion; dispensations/permissions; Department for Pastoral Ministries; Mexican American Catholic College; Office of Victim Assistance and Safe Environment; Catholic Schools Office; Development Office; Annual Archbishop’s Appeal and capital campaign; stewardship and engagement; Communications Department; Tribunal; Clergy Office and Diaconate Office.

Among the presenters were Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS; Auxiliary Bishop Michael Boulette; Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak; and Father Jim Fischler, CICM, director of the Office for Clergy.
