Statue seeks to raise awareness of the marginalized in society
Catholic Charities hosted the installation of the “I Was Hungry and Thirsty” statue of Jesus by Timothy Schmaltz as its headquarters building on West French on a cold and rainy afternoon November 5. The artwork symbolizes the corporal work of mercy from Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me food and I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, blessed the statue with friends of the agency and staff in attendance, including President/CEO J. Antonio Fernández.
