Families go fishing

We had an incredible time celebrating Father’s Day out on the water during the second annual Fishing with Fathers event organized by the local Family and Children’s Services. It was a day filled with fishing, games, treats, and various activities where families came together to create lasting memories with amazing fathers.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as families gathered at the park for a day by the river. Before the day’s fishing activities commenced, the children eagerly learned how to cast a rod under the guidance of experienced anglers. Laughter filled the air as they made their first attempts, and once they hit the water, the real fishing adventure began. It was heartwarming to witness many children catching their first fish, bringing smiles to their faces with dads cheering.

Moreover, even when the fish weren’t biting, the day was filled with meaningful moments. The children cherished quality time outdoors with their fathers, fostering and strengthening their bonds. Many dads expressed how much they appreciated the positive impact of the Supporting Dads program on their lives and how it has brought them closer to their children.

Supporting Dads is a program for fathers and stepdads of children aged 0-17 seeking community, guidance, and support. It covers a wide range of topics including discipline techniques, co-parenting, and fostering a positive male role model. The program offers flexible options with both virtual and in-person classes, held once a week for 12 weeks during the day or early evening.

Best of all, the classes are completely free, and those interested can start attending immediately. For more information or to register, call 210-226-6178.
