What a joyful celebration! My dear brothers and sisters, Pope Francis reminds us that “the basis of this feeling of deep joy is the presence of God.” There is great joy in serving in complementary ways. Caregivers are served when they are allowed to receive joy by serving those who need them. And you are passing on that joy to me today! Let us praise and thank the Holy Spirit for the fruit of joy.

Today’s readings remind us of the diverse gifts and challenges that each of us brings to this journey of faith. As we reflect on the words of Scripture, let us find solace and strength in the assurance that God’s love knows no bounds and embraces us all, regardless of our abilities or limitations.

In the reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we see how the Lord protected and guided St. Paul, even in the face of persecution.

The Lord’s abiding presence and protection is a source of great comfort for all who suffer.

The Responsorial Psalm invited us to join in the chorus of joyful worship. No matter the trials we face, we can take refuge in the knowledge that our Lord is King over all.

The Lord’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection are the wellspring of our hope, as we join Jesus in this Mass through our limitations and struggles offered with love. Though Jesus ascended to heaven, he did not leave us alone. He left us with the Holy Spirit, who empowers all of us, regardless of ability, to share the joy of the Gospel.

There is a psalm that prays: “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act, and make your innocence shine like the dawn, your justice like noonday.” (37:5-6). Those who see the world with childlike wonder radiate God’s love.

My dear friends, let us embrace our crosses with faith and love, knowing that the Lord walks with us and that our sufferings are united to the saving work of Christ. May the pure of heart find joy in the Lord’s presence and may all who care for the disabled be strengthened by God’s grace.

May Our Blessed Mother of Guadalupe look after all of us. Amen
